This glass was clearly inspired by Dutch painter Piet Mondrian. However we wanted to explore his design with the use of transparency and reflection and take Mondrian's design deeper into colour. What started as a inspiration, suddenly became an unexpected challenge. The style may look simple, but it is anything but simple, as getting the balance of colours became a huge challenge. Not wanting to use white, we opted for transparent glass so the reflective colours could be seen not only behind the artwork but also through it. Unexpectedly the black lines jump out in the gloss of glass that is quite different to Mondrian's originals.
Coming with its sturdy matt black metal stand this complicated piece is able to throw colours behind it in a way Mondrian's design has never been seen. The result is stunning. Position in a way that the light works with this artwork and it will pay you back in colours that throw themselves around its black frame.
